Eyrie Chardonnays back to 1970

I described in The Letts look and give back the background to this extraordinary vertical tasting of every vintage made of The Eyrie Vineyards Chardonnay, of which sometimes fewer than 50 cases were made.

There are many unusual aspects to the tasting, not least the fact that the Letts have been able to provide such detailed background notes on each vintage. Although the wines are far from mass market items, I have great pleasure in presenting my tasting notes with all the background in italics below so that it might, just, be possible to draw some conclusions about the factors...
