Ferran's big Rioja report – part 1

A feeling of deep responsibility invaded me last March on my way to Logroño, where the Consejo Regulador (regulatory body) of Rioja is located. A blind tasting was awaiting me, and I was wondering how to transmit accurately to you the recent evolution of the most famous Spanish wine region. The Consejo had asked all the bodegas to submit just one sample and as a result gathered 206 bottles. More than a third of Rioja's wineries had sent samples to be tasted. Blind tasting is, from my point of view, the most objective and demanding way of evaluating wines.
