Fine Austrian reds

Dr Josef ('Pepi') Schuller MW assembled the wines below for me to taste when I visited his very impressive Weinakademie Österreich, Austrian Wine Academy (pictured), where students can learn all about both the theory and practice of wine in the Burgenland village of Rust last November. The theme was Austria's indigenous red varieties, the participants some of Austria's most respected red-wine producers in Burgenland and Mittelburgenland.
The idea was to show an example from the particularly successful 2009 vintage plus an example or two from an earlier vintage to demonstrate how they age. The 2009 should be in commercial circulation...
