Friday 29 August 2008

For an introduction to the region and to this series of profiles, see The right road to northern Greece and Greece backs indigenous varieties.
Civil engineer Yiannis Papadopoulos (standing behind) began making wine from an old family vineyard in Microchori (near Drama) as a hobby in a cellar just 12m x 12m in 1993. In 1995 he started a partnership with architect Yiannis Kalaitzidis (in front), and the winery was expanded to its current size in 1998. Yiannis Papadopoulos's son Achis has just completed his oenology studies in Bordeaux.
