With Jancis tucked up in bed with pneumonia (undiagnosed at the time), I was virtually – and happily for me – parachuted in to Athens for this serious tasting of 'Fine Red Wines'. British Airways offered only the more conventional landing option. This consumer tasting was organised by Panos Deligiannis, owner and editor of the Food and Leisure Guide, a Greek online food, wine and 'lifestyle' magazine, including a billowing cigar club (and an International version in English), and Constantine Stergides, journalist and organiser of major wine events such as the annual Oenorama wine fair, where I first met him...
