Istrian tasting notes – established producers

The wines below (in alphabetical order by producer) are from producers who have been established in Istria for several generations. See also my tasting notes on wines made by newer producers.
CATTUNAR, Brtonigla (northwest Istria, just south of the Slovenian border)The Cattunar family started wine production in the 1930s with just three hectares. Today Franco Cattunar cultivates 46 ha mostly planted in the mid 1980s. The vineyards are in Nova Vas and Brtonigla. They grow Malvazija Istarska, Merlot, Chardonnay, Muškat Bijeli (Muscat Ottonel), Teran, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc.
