Too many people take second best when it comes to wine, with promotional promises such as three for £12 and BOGOF (buy one, get one free) accounting for over half of all off-trade wine transactions, according to the latest figures. That inevitably distorts people's perception of intrinsic value, as well as perpetuating the success of what is very often the yawnsome bottom end of wine. Asda have a different approach, with their 'everyday low price' strategy meaning un-discounted, flat-price wines.
