Just outside Bilbao, the Gorka Izagirre 'project', and it has to be called that for it is more than just a vineyard and winery, has at its heart the recuperation of Txakoli (Chacoli in Castilian), the local Bizkaia (Biscay) wine, but also the promotion of local farmers and their produce, and culture in a wider sense, including the artworks in and around the Azurmendi restaurant.
The restaurant, just uphill of the winery (and whence the photo above is taken), is a glass-sided showcase for local crops...
