Screaming Eagle – a cool $750 a bottle

The annual offer of cult Napa Valley Cabernet Screaming Eagle’s latest vintage was mailed out at the end of last week to the few thousand who have made it on to the winery’s mailing list. Screams indeed. The 2005 is being offered at $750 a bottle. The 2004 price was $500, while the 2003 was sold for less than half the price of the 2005.
Perhaps even more of a blow to those who have become used to taking up their allocation and, as happens in so many cases, selling it on the secondary market at a handsome profit...
