London is not the only place where temperatures soared in recent days; France has also been subject to the summer heat. So far the vines have not suffered too much, thanks to the heavy rain in winter (which limits the water stress) and relatively low night-time temperatures (between 15 and 19 °C, depending on the region).
The biggest enemy for wine growers, however, is thunderstorms, which often wreak considerable damage, especially when rain hits ground hardened by remorseless sunshine.
