The ascent of Carignan in Chile
Wednesday, 6 January 2016

A happy coincidence earlier this year gave me the chance to taste some of Chile's old-vine Carignan from the southern region of Maule, both vertically and horizontally, though I remained upright on both occasions. The first was with Odfjell's French winemaker Arnaud Hereu (pictured), who took me through a vertical of their Orzada bottling; the second was a comparison of 14 wines from 2010-2013 made by producers who have signed up to the VIGNO rules of engagement, as described by Derek Mossman Knapp in Vignadores de Carignan.
