Txakoli – not to be dismissed

If you still think Txakoli is no more than a light, refreshing, simple, lightly fizzy wine to be drunk young when touring Basque country, I am sure you will be surprised if you keep reading.
The image described above might be true for some of the Getariako Txakolina produced in the surroundings of San Sebastian (Donosti), the gastronomic capital of Spain within the province of Guipúzcoa. The Getariako wines are almost like traditional Vinho Verde – low alcohol, a touch of sparkle and an early harvest to retain green flavours.
