100 vintages of Riesling

The following notes were taken at the most extraordinary two-day tasting of 100 vintages of Riesling made at the state wine domain at Kloster Eberbach earlier this month. I will be writing about the event in more detail. Suffice it to say that it showed just how beautifully this great white wine grape ages. As I pointed out in 20-20 wines, Rieslings made at this great domain were mainly dry until the second half of the 20th century, with a very similar balance to that of today's Erstes Gewächs wines – and there was no shortage of examples that really...
