Brunello petition

Many of you will have been following Brunellogate, or Brunellopoli, as the latest scandal to envelop the Italian wine business is sometimes called. See this thread in members’ forum and the articles listed below.
Those passionately devoted to maintaining Sangiovese purity in Brunello di Montalcino have launched an online petition, apparently by popular demand, on the Gambero Rosso/Slow Food forum with the aim of prompting the Brunello di Montalcino Consorzio to:
- transparently manage the ongoing ‘scandal’ involving several major producers in the area
- desist from ad-hoc alterations of the production code to make room for non-local vine varieties, thereby condoning these large-scale bottlers under investigation.
Here is the link to the petition which you can support by adding your signature (first name, second name and email required).
