Things are rarely black and white but, as vintages go, 2021 has turned out to be mostly black with very little white. Some of the hardest spring frosts for many years devastated Burgundy’s vineyards in the first ten days of April. The hopes and aspirations of Chablis and much of the Mâconnais were dashed, with Chablis vignerons in particular left to tend wounded vines with only the hope that 2022 will bring some joy.
