Summary
Very good Torrontés and deeply coloured, fully ripe reds, especially Tannat, Malbec and Syrah in Salta in the north. In La Rioja,the best varietal expression is found in the higher, cooler vineyards. Very good, fresh whites from San Juan; reds were late but remained healthy with good colour. Mendoza had a difficult vintage with a good deal of variation within the region but produced elegant, expressive whites.
