Battle of the giants between Cos and the under-sale Montrose here – and giant is the word for the proportions of both these wines. Calon Ségur is in the same mould if a little less self-conscious. There’s no tricksy sweetness in any of these wines. There should be many great buys among the best Haut-Médoc and Médoc wines, and may even be some among the St-Estèphes.
