For all other articles and more than 1,600 tasting notes on this sparse vintage, please see Burgundy 2012 – a guide to our coverage.

The tasting notes below are grouped in alphabetical order by producer (sur)name and then under each producer by colour first (white then red), then by quality level (regional, then village, then premier cru, then grand cru), and finally, where there is more than one wine within a level, they are in alphabetical order by appellation/vineyard name.

DOMAINE PIERRE DAMOY

Dark and savoury and inviting. On the palate, moderate fruit weight leaves the tannins a touch prominent at the moment but it's vibrant and should come into a dark-fruited balance with a bit of time in bottle. (JH)
Drink 2017 – 2022
£310 per case of 6 ib Flint

DOMAINE DANIEL DAMPT

This has the substance missing from their Les Lys bottling – apple, cheese, chalk, fine acid and smooth, creamy mouthfeel. (RH)
Drink 2014 – 2019
£135 per case of 12 ib Haynes Hanson & Clark
White peach, light-grained texture. Lovely citric bite with plenty of density, but not much wider complexity – should gain some with age. (RH)
Drink 2015 – 2020
£138 per case of 12 ib Haynes Hanson & Clark
Chalky, slaty and fresh on the nose. Just a tad light on the palate – especially for premier cru. (RH)
Drink 2014 – 2018
£128 per case of 12 ib Haynes Hanson & Clark

DOMAINE SÉBASTIEN DAMPT

Mealy, cereal aromas and a milky character with lovely green fruit too. So Chablis! Good, fresh, crisp typicality. (RH)
Drink 2014 – 2018
£62.75 per case of 6 ib Armit
Apple, nuts, even a bit of hard cheese. Refreshing but soft acidity, lots of leesy texture. Dense core. (RH)
Drink 2016 – 2024
£87.75 per case of 6 ib Armit
Dry, layered, textural with lots of dense fruit. Refined and compact. (RH)
Drink 2014 – 2018
£87.75 per case of 6 ib Armit
Mealy nose, quite subtle fruit. Soft palate – less well defined than their others. (RH)
Drink 2014 – 2018
£87.75 per case of 6 ib Armit
Rich, succulent fruit – apricot, peach, almost pineapple. Perhaps less typically Chablis, therefore. Bright, brisk. Tight. (RH)
Drink 2015 – 2020
£87.75 per case of 6 ib Armit

DOMAINE VINCENT DAMPT

A little riper smelling than the Vaillons, light note of orange pith and spice. Super-fresh and super-lively intensity. This definitely shows the best of this vintage with intensity, freshness and length. Terrific wine and VVGV. (JH)
Drink 2017 – 2027
£165 per case of 12 ib Corney & Barrow
Intense minerally aroma but suggesting fruit depth. Intense and so direct on the palate, a hint of creaminess to soften than intensity – there's a sort of citrus character without masses of fruit flavour. Persistent. GV (JH)
Drink 2015 – 2025
£165 per case of 12 ib Corney & Barrow

Deeply mineral and deeply creamy. Broader on the palate than the Côte de Léchet but equally intense and fresh. May have more staying power but I think the Côte de Léchet is the better buy. (JH)

Drink 2017 – 2027
£330 per case of 12 ib Corney & Barrow

DOMAINE HENRI DARNAT

Creamy overlay on crisp, mouthwatering citrus. Moderate intensity but marked persistence. Intense citrus on the palate but there's a boiled-sweets effect on the finish that suggests it needs some time to meld. (JH)
Drink 2017 – 2022
£250 per case of 12 ib Corney & Barrow
Monopole. Sweet oak toastiness but plenty of fruit to shine through. Straightforward with a good balance of citrus brightness and creamy texture to soften the acidity. (JH)
Drink 2017 – 2024
£385 per case of 12 ib Corney & Barrow

DOMAINE DARVIOT-PERRIN

A welcome hint of oak here just adds enough spicy complexity without being intrusive. Firm-ish structure with lots of expressive floral, violet scent on the finish. Does a rather good impression of something rather more famous – Chambolle, perhaps? (RH)
Drink 2016 – 2024
£tbc per case ib Clarion
