Kanta – Egon Müller's Australian outpost

The Saar supremo Egon Müller of Scharzhofberg fame, winner of the 2015 Winemakers' Winemaker Award, and his business partners Michael Andrewartha and Akos Forczek have been making Riesling in Australia's Adelaide Hills since 2005, when Jancis wrote about the then-new joint venture in her article Kanta – Egon-Müller in Australia. There have been some changes since then, most notably the source of the fruit. The grapes for Kanta come from vineyards leased from Shaw + Smith, originally from Balhanna Vineyard but since 2010 from Argyle Vineyard in Echunga at about 400 m (over 1,300 ft) above sea level.
