Poor old Orange, the newish wine region in the hills of New South Wales. It has not been served well by the dominant winery there that was set up by a mob of over-ambitious investors as Cabonne. It became clear that this vast complex could not survive on processing thousands of tonnes of fruit for others (when I repeated their original sales forecasts to other Australian wine people after my visit there in 2001, they all fell off their chairs). The name was then changed to Reynolds and the operation leant heavily on the talented, ex-Hunter Valley winemaker Jon Reynolds...
