Producing burgundy is now officially an activity for billionaires. François Pinault bought Clos de Tart to add to his Domaine d'Eugénie. Clos des Lambrays is already part of the LVMH wine portfolio. Martin Bouygues, owner of Ch Montrose and fashionable Clos Rougeard, recently acquired Domaine Henri Rebourseau in Gevrey-Chambertin – a smart move considering its holdings in no fewer than five grands crus.
But buying burgundy is rapidly becoming an activity for billionaires too. Premier cru wines routinely cut three-digit sums...
