An unexpected German assortment

Much earlier this year, in Bad Kreuznach in particularly snowy weather, I had the honour of addressing Vinissima, Germany's group of women involved in the wine business.
Here are the notes I took at a tasting of wines made by members of the group. It was particularly interesting for me to note how very different the spread of wine styles and grape varieties was from the conventional picture we non-Germans have of a country devoted to Riesling and Pinot Noir, or Spätburgunder.
