Sotheby’s have pulled off the most amazing coup. On July 18 they are selling the contents of what they describe coyly as “a prestigious private continental cellar” which include wines they describe not quite so coyly as “of a historical dimension”. The cellar has yielded not just the odd bottle of Ch Cheval Blanc 1947 but two whole cases of it. Perfect for an oligarch's 60th birthday celebrations – or perhaps they are all too young?
