L'Église-Clinet – standing the test of time

Continuing the retrospective mood outlined in yesterday’s How well does wine age?, and as a reminder of how glorious mature red Bordeaux can be, I present my impressions of a most impressive line-up of magnums of one of my favourite Pomerols, Ch L'Église-Clinet, back to 1995, tasted in Bordeaux just before 2014 primeurs week.
Basically this tasting was the lure to get a handful of us to stray far from the established paths of Bordeaux over the border into Bergerac country in the Dordogne. Denis Durantou of L'Église-Clinet is consultant winemaker at what must surely be the best-funded Bergerac...
