Fancy a Franciacorta or fifty?

Two years after the Franciacorta Consorzio opened a London office (see Walter Speller's Franciacorta sets its sights on the UK), visibility of the 'other' sparkling wine of Italy has greatly increased within the British wine trade. Regular tastings and seminars have been attempting to convince us of the charms of this wine – an ostensibly straightforward objective for a large, active wine market with particular thirst for sparkling wine of all shapes and sizes.
I haven't noticed an increase of availability in restaurants, bars and shops, however. It almost certainly takes longer for trade-focused promotional work to trickle down...
