The Manettis have owned this 70 hectare estate near Panzano in the middle of the Classico zone since 1968 and continue to invest considerable money and effort, including a new winery in 1998. Despite this the 1997s, as so often in Chianti Classico, are looking pretty impressive. Franco Bernabei has consulted since 1979.
Vigna del Sorbo is 90% Sangiovese and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon typically, aged in Allier barriques for 19 months. There is no 2002 Vigna del Sorbo because they sold 50% of the vintage in bulk...
