I have become completely convinced that Gavi comes into its own properly once it has had some bottle age, varying from an additional year upon release to a decade or more for quite a few of them. This is by no means common knowledge, because the general idea still prevails that this refreshing white from Piemonte needs to be drunk the minute it hits the market.
