Laithwaites – high-altitude wines?

In a rare public outing in what passes for the world of wine in London, founder Tony Laithwaite (seen here) was present at the autumn press tasting of his eponymous company's wares at Altitude, high above the Thames at the top of Millbank Tower last month. The picture shows the rather distracting view of the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye and much else besides.

It was asking rather a lot of the wines for them to be more captivating than the view, which is perhaps why I was overall a little disappointed, and found them much less convincing than...
