It's high time I shared these observations on a vertical of one of the Napa Valley's most historic fine wines, taken in New York at a tasting presented by Bill, son of Joe Phelps. The estate, a former cattle ranch, was bought in 1973 and, according to Bill, his father felt at the time that he'd 'better get in there quick because there are already 30 wineries in the Napa Valley and there can't be room for many more'.
