The following were to me the most impressive wines in a recent look at Oddbins' offerings. See purple prose for a mischievous account of the tasting.
WHITES
Lingenfelder Bird Riesling 2002 Pfalz £5.99
The original full-bodied dry Riesling. Always a bargain. Bit of malo to bulk it out.
Burgans Albarino 2002 Galicia £7.99
Fine, lemony, medium-bodied dry wine with zip though Lagar de Cervara 2002 at about two pounds more is more refreshing and more silky.
Leitz Rudesheimer Magdalenenkreuz Riesling Spätlese 2002 Rheingau £9.99
Seriously good wine. Not as obviously sweet as many Oddbins' Germans, with great extract and minerality...
