Winegrowing in Japan has exploded in the last decade. Wine expert and translator Yoko Obara offers an inside look.
Although Japan is most famous for sake, today the country has nearly 500 wineries focused on grape wine. For a small island with a relatively short history of winegrowing, the growth has been fast and exciting, especially as quality has risen exponentially in the last decade.
