With Aldi and Lidl now firmly part of the UK retail landscape, it is worth considering what impact they have had on the more established players Tesco, Sainsbury's, John Lewis/Waitrose, Morrisons and Asda. Despite a relatively late arrival, both companies are already major forces in the ultra-competitive UK grocery market. Tesco currently leads with a 27% market share (according to latest Kantar Worldpanel figures) although this is down from 28% two years ago.
