Christie's Wine Department – 40 today

 
Just back from one of those lunches I experience all too rarely nowadays (whereas I seemed to have four or five a week in the 1970s when I was editing the wine trade magazine Wine & Spirit).
 
Gathered in Christie’s boardroom in St James, London to celebrate the fact that exactly 40 years ago today Christie’s held their first-ever wine sale in the modern era were:
 
Michael Broadbent MW who was charged with starting up the department in 1966 on his arrival from Harveys of Bristol
 
Daphne Broadbent who at one stage was chief (unpaid)...
