Sad news just in from Nigel Greening of Felton Road in Central Otago:
'Very sorry to report that your namesake (see Jancis the cat and Oz the goat) was killed at the weekend (in a possum trap). We are all rather sad here. We buried her in front of the car park under an elm tree looking towards her birth home at Northburn, then we all had a wee glass of Fine…..she’ll be sadly missed.
'We have decided, though, that there should always be a Jancis, so we will seek a new winery kitten to take on the big shoes of her predecessor.
'Hope that all is good with you. We finished fermenting what looks like a very fine 2010 two weeks ago and are now busily racking the 2009 Pinots to bottle next week.'
