Germany's time has come for great sparkling wines.
Germany leads the world in sparkling-wine consumption, with just under half of it imported. Yet that leaves another half (53% according to recent reports out of Geisenheim) to be supplied by the German version known as Sekt. Once revered, then reviled, German sparkling wine has spent the last decade undergoing notable developments in its upper echelons. Some of these developments I covered in A new chapter for Sekt, but two recent events have provided even more convincing proof.
