Great golfing value – for North Americans

I taste wines “made” by famous athletes with a good slug of scepticism (there are at least 10 of them). Only a few are truly serious about winemaking – South African golfer Ernie Els, for example, whose excellent Englebrecht Els wines are produced with Jean Engelbrecht of Rust en Vrede Estate in Stellenbosch. Sports stars may be enamoured with the idea of being vintners, but rare is the one whose hands actually get dirty in the cellar.
