Today’s news of Jackson Family Wines acquisition of Murphy-Goode in Alexander Valley reminds me to publish my notes on a range of Jess Jackson’s California wines taken earlier this year.
Jackson’s various brands – which I personally find rather blandly and forgettably named (too many abstract nouns) – are hugely familiar within the US but only eight per cent of them are exported. I was told that the leading export markets are the UK, Canada and the Caribbean but the wines seem to have an extremely low profile in the UK. And presumably it hasn't helped that Mayfair Cellars...
