Spent yesterday in Ampuis celebrating Marcel Guigal’s elevation as Decanter Man of the Year 2006. High points included tasting the ‘la la wines’ (La Mouline, La Turque and La Landonne Côte-Rôtie 2003) from cask. They will definitely be worth begging for when they are released in about a year’s time. And the 2002s are extremely respectable for the vintage too, though La Mouline 2002, just released, is eerily ready to drink. See my rather rough and ready tasting notes on these Guigal wines – though look out too for notes on 70 vintage champagnes tomorrow.
