New Zealand has firmly established itself as a useful source of refined Pinot Noir outside Burgundy, alongside places such as Oregon, parts of Santa Barbara, coastal Sonoma, Hemel-en-Aarde and southern Germany. I first visited New Zealand in 2008 and, having been converted to its Pinots beforehand, I shaped my trip around the variety, beginning in Central Otago and finishing up in Martinborough.
