Jamie Davies, the “grande dame” of NapaValley’s Schramsberg Vineyards sparkling wine house, died Feb 12 at her Calistoga estate. Davies, 73, had suffered from Parkinson’s disease for some time.
Though frail in recent years, Davies remained involved in the business until her death. In 2005, she celebrated Schramsberg’s 40th anniversary by naming her winemaker son, Hugh, as president of the company that she founded with her husband Jack in 1965, yet kept the title of chairman herself. Jack Davies died in 1998.
