The following are some more 2005 Germans from three important estates that I had the pleasure of tasting just before setting off for Australia. The von Schubert estate at Maximin Grünhaus really seems to be back on track now, with new winemaker Stefan Kraml (ex von Othegraven) having quite dramatically reduced yields to an average of not much more than 35 hl/ha, renewed the cellar equipment with lots of temperature control and using 100 per cent ambient yeasts.
