The rise and fall of the garagistes in the fine wine market

Reviewing the entry in The Oxford Companion to Wine on microchâteaux recently, I asked some London fine wine traders for their view of the current market for these small-volume, right bank wines and here is the reply:

Le Pin remains the only one to be genuinely in strong demand. It was there before the garage boom and it's there, almost alone, afterwards. 

Valandraud just about sells but with little excitement at a much-reduced price. Mondotte is much less demanded than before and wines such as Gomerie are pretty much unsaleable. Rol Valentin and Quinault L'Enclos are now sold at cheap prices. The...
