This week we continue Tam's reviews of books published this year that may be of interest to wine lovers and also continue our Christmas present to all visitors to JancisRobinson.com: Elaine's four-part detailed history of California's most-planted grape variety, one that was virtually unknown in the state before the 1960s. Riesling and Sémillon were far more common white wine varieties.
My picture shows our restaurant correspondent in a Christmassy London Town, Waterloo Place, to be exact. We do treasure our victories, however historic they may feel – and this one, of course, depended on international co-operation.
