Dave Broom joined the JancisRobinson.com team as our sprits expert in 2023. Glasgow-born, Dave has been writing about drink for over 30 years and has specialised in spirits since 1996. In his time, he’s been contributing editor at Whisky Magazine, Whisky Magazine Japan, Whisky Advocate and Scotchwhisky.com. He’s written 14 books, including The Way of Whisky: A Journey into Japanese Whisky, The World Atlas of Whisky and, his newest, A Sense of Place. Dave has also written and presented two films, Cuba in a Bottle and the award-winning The Amber Light, and is ‘an agreeable man with a pepper-and-salt beard’ (The Irish Times).
