10 year-old wines in supermarket shock
Tesco are by far the dominant force in UK wine retail, and very much plan on continuing to be so, from the sound of things. One of their core own brands, the arbitrarily asterisked Finest* range, turns 10 this year, and there are some new wines to celebrate the birthday.
Before the notes, though, some figures. The Finest* range of food and drink generates £1.1 billion of sales a year to Tesco (a huge sum – greater than Coca-Cola’s £1 billion of annual UK sales) and includes, to give just one example, 1,384,575 Finest* traditional pork sausages each week. Finest*...
