At first it looked like nothing had changed when I arrived on Sunday last week in Alba for the annual en primeur presentation of Roero, Barbaresco and Barolo. The Ferrero works still exuded their sweet chocolate and cherry smells, and the distinctly innocent-looking fairground, with the world’s smallest Ferris wheel and attractions even I would dare to take a ride in, had set up camp again across the street from my hotel. Even the weather was the same as last year’s, with warm, sunny days...
