Penedès plays host to the 2nd EcoSostenibleWine conference this week, as 450 wine people come together to discuss organics, sustainability and climate change. Catalunya is an appropriate location for it, having the highest concentration of organic vineyards in Spain – although that still only amounts to 6% of the total. The feeling is that this will grow exponentially, as winemakers seek to differentiate their products, add value and thereby surmount the pitfalls of competing on price.
