A new AC for dry Maury

'Maury sweet and dry' is the strapline announcing the recent changes to the Maury appellation in Roussillon in the far south of France.

Until now, Maury AOC, the most southerly of all the Roussillon appellations, has been reserved exclusively for the sweet, fortified wines known in French as Vins Doux Naturels (VDN) made in the 2,000-hectare region that comprises the commune of Maury as well as parts of the communes of Tautavel, St-Paul de Fenouillet and Rasiguères – a region where 80% of the vines planted are Grenache Noir.
