Appropriately enough for an epic quest around Australia, it began at sea. Specifically at Rose Bay in north Sydney, where we took a seaplane to Killcare beach for a tasting and lunch with winemakers from New South Wales and Canberra. The short flight went over Shark Island, the scene of multiple drownings, shipwrecks and at least one shark attack. Odysseus would have approved.
