Austrian whites delight

The phrase 'a pig in clover' may not translate directly into German but that's how I felt as I focused on white wines at the annual Austrian tasting in London last month. Not that every wine was amazing, but the overall standard was remarkably high and it was a real treat to taste these 80 wines, mostly Riesling and Grüner Veltliner from the 2010 or the 2011 vintage but also a few older wines and some examples of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Weissburgunder/Pinot Blanc...
